Scheduled Events for 2025












Registration for scheduled events will be at the event start point unless otherwise specified in the event brochure (see links below).  Due to the increasing fee the AVA is charging clubs per walk, we have raised our registration fee to $4 for IVV credit.  For walkers not seeking IVV credit (aka “Guest Walkers”), if a person is walking as a first-time guest at one of our group walks, they can walk for free, and the club will pick up the $2 fee for that walk. For any subsequent times they walk with us, they will be required to pay the $2 guest fee.

NEXT GROUP WALK

 We have had a date change from the schedule that was previously published. We will be walking our Huntsville Year-Round-Event on February 8, 2025.  We will meet at the Start Point at the Huntsville-Madison County Visitor’s Center at 10:00 a.m. The Visitor’s Center is at 500 Church St., Suite One, Huntsville, AL 35801.

   
Directions to the walk - From I-65, From I 565 Eastbound take Exit 19C onto Jefferson St. Turn right on Monroe St. Turn right on Church St. Cross the RR tracks. The Visitors Center is on the right. From I 565 Westbound take Exit 19A, to Jefferson St. and follow the directions above. Please park in the parking lot across Cleveland Street from the Visitor’s Center.

We will have lunch at Melt restaurant after the walk. The address for Melt is 201 Jefferson St N Suite I, Huntsville, AL 35801.


We will walk the Madison walk at a later date.

November 15, 2025 - Huntsville (In the evening, the club members can participate in the Huntsville Botanical Garden Galaxy of Lights walking night.)

December 13, 2025 - Birmingham (club meeting to discuss schedule for 2026)

Year Round Events (YRE)

The Capital City Wanderers offers 7 events that may be walked during daylight hours, any day the start point is opened though December 31, 2025.  At each location except Monroeville and Montevallo, there is a "Volksmarch Box" or "Walk Box" which contains instructions for registering.  For Monroeville and Montevallo, we are only using the Online Start Box feature on the AVA website.   Every participant must register.  Additional information can be found on the AVA website under Find a Walk.

Conditions

Everyone is welcome to participate.  Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult.  Pets must be on a leash at all times.  Litter should be discarded in proper receptacles.  No alcoholic beverages are allowed along the course.
